Seattle--

LTC Comment:  Center for Long-Term Care Reform 2008 National Long-Term Care Consciousness Tour update and endorsement after the ***news.***

*** SILVER BULLET OF LTC.  If you've followed our plans for the National Long-Term Care Consciousness Tour, you know I'll be living on the road in an Airstream trailer next year to promote LTC awareness.  That'll be our bright, shiny, aluminum media magnet.  I do think it will draw attention.  Here are a few things I learned from a recent article in USA Today (http://www.usatoday.com/travel/destinations/2007-07-01-airstream_n.htm).

*  A 1963 Airstream "Bambi" is featured in the lobby of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City (http://www.moma.org/exhibitions/exhibitions.php?id=4507).
*  Sandra Bullock, David Duchovny, Tom Hanks and Brad Pitt are all Airstreamers, as is Pamela Anderson.
*  Musicians Rachel Fuller and Pete Townshend of The Who tour in an Airstream.
*  Vice President Cheney uses one as an office on military transport planes.
*  Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd lives in one on Grey's Anatomy.
*  Matthew McConaughey has three.

Strange bedfellows to be sure, but if it works for them, it should raise some eyebrows and attract some eyeballs to our "Long-Term Care Wake-Up Tour." ***

*** LTC GRADUATE SEMINAR.  Our first internet-based LTC Graduate Seminar got off to a flawless start yesterday.  So we're opening enrollments for the next offering of this eight-week class.  Participation is limited to the first 20 to enroll so contact Damon ASAP at 206-283-7036 or damon@centerltc.com to hold a spot.  For all the details, see http://www.centerltc.com/LTC_Grad_Seminar/index.htm or check out our 30-minute Webinar about the LTC Grad Seminar at http://www.centerltc.com/WebinarAnnouncingLTCGradSem.wmv.  Tuition is $225 but that includes a year's membership in the Center or a one year extension if you're already a member.  Successful completion of the LTC Graduate Seminar is a pre-requisite for participation as a Regional Representative in the 2008 "LTC Tour."  The next class will begin as soon as 20 people enroll, so get a group together and let's get the show on the road, as it were. ***

*** SPECIAL THANKS TO LTC CONNECTION and James Dove for donating the wonderful GoToWebinar technology to the Center which has made it possible for us to offer the LTC Graduate Seminar online. ***

*** BONUS WEBSITE.  And speaking of LTC Connection, all you have to do to have your very own LTC website designed by LTC Connection is to join the Center for Long-Term Care Reform.  That's right, join the Center for $150 per year, get all our publications and access to The Zone, including our new "Almanac of Long-Term Care," and on top of that LTC Connection will design your website and waive their usual $149 fee.  Or look at it this way, buy your website from LTC Connection through the Center and get a year of membership in the Center for only $1 more.  Sure, you'll have to pay LTC Connection's $39 per month website maintenance fee, but you'll get a whole year of LTC Bullets and LTC E-Alerts for no extra charge.  So, what do you have to do?  Just contact Damon at 206-283-7036 or damon@centerltc.com, join the Center, pay your membership fee, and say "I want my website."  We'll connect you with the right person at LTC Connection and you'll be on your way.  Great content from the Center and a great website from LTC Connection.  How can you beat it?  Already a member of the Center but want your free website?  No problem.  Renew your annual membership early and get the same deal. ***

LTC BULLET:  LTC TOUR UPDATE AND ENDORSEMENT

LTC Comment:  Claude Thau is a dynamo.  He has a hand in everything that matters about long-term care planning and insurance.  And he's seen it all from leading a major LTCi carrier to mentoring LTCi producers throughout the United States.  He's a mainstay advisor for two nationally syndicated financial columnists I know and probably many others as well.  Like the old E.F. Hutton commercial, when Claude speaks, people listen.  So the Center for Long-Term Care Reform is very pleased he's talking about our 2008 National Long-Term Care Consciousness Tour.  Here's what he had to say recently in an email blast to his large and growing private readership:

-----------

Many of you may know Steve Moses.  Steve is my go-to guru as regards Medicaid.  At one time, I was the Chairman of the Board of a non-profit LTC think tank created and run by Steve.  He is one of 10 people to be cited next month as "Power People in LTCi" by Senior Market Advisor.  [Claude's too modest to mention he's one of the ten as well.]

Throughout 2008, Steve will tour the USA to influence local media, politicians and policy makers regarding LTC issues.  You might be interested in knowing when he will be in your area, in meeting with him or introducing him to people he should meet, arranging speaking engagements or interviews for him, etc.  So here is his schedule:

*  Southeast:  FL, GA, AL, MS, SC, NC, TN  (January, February)
*  Southwest:  TX, NM, AZ, CO, UT, OK, AR, LA (March, April)
*  Central East:  VA, WV, MD, DE, PA, NJ, DC (May, June)
*  Northeast:  NY, CT, RI, MA, VT, NH, ME  (July, August)
*  Midwest:  IL, IN, OH, IA, MI, KY, MO, MN, ND, SD, KS, NE, WI (Sept., Oct.)
*  West:  CA, NV, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, AK, HI  (November, December)

LTCi specialists, in particular, might like to be more involved, perhaps as sponsoring "gadflies."  I've elected to be a Regional Representative.

Steve would be interested in:

*  Meeting: reporters, media, legislators, regulators, senior advocates, LTC providers, financial advisors, attorneys, CPAs, insurance brokers, reverse mortgage providers, policy think tanks, etc.

*  Speaking engagements: radio or TV, Chambers of Commerce, legislatures, Rotary or other leadership organizations, estate planning councils, relevant associations (medical, attorney, CPA, etc.)

Perhaps you could find someone who might take the initiative of sponsoring his presentation as continuing education for some professionals.

You can reach Steve at (206) 283-7036 or smoses@centerltc.com.  You can also look at his web-site: http://www.centerltc.org.

Steve can certainly be controversial.  Whether you agree with everything he says or not, he stimulates and engages in debate on important issues. I've learned a lot from Steve.
