About Stephen Moses
Keynote speaker Steve Moses is President of the Center for
Long-Term Care Reform, based in Seattle, Wa. As a former
Medicaid/Medicare administrator he has spent the past two
decades waging a crusade to save Medicaid, America's
safety net from a near certain path to insolvency. Through
his extensive writings, expert testimony to Congress and
state legislatures, presentations to insurance and
financial advisors, CPA's, attorneys, the American Medical
Association, chambers of commerce, and frequent media
interviews, Steve advocates a return to the sense of
personal responsibility that made America great.
Over the years he has exposed Medicaid eligibility abuse
by elder law attorneys who artificially impoverish
affluent seniors to qualify for taxpayer-funded nursing
homes. His efforts have contributed greatly to the passage
of important legislation, most recently the Deficit
Reduction Act of 2005.
In 2008 Moses took his campaign to the grassroots with the
National Long-Term Consciousness Tour. He traveled the
country in the Silver Bullet of Long-Term Care, an
airstream trailer decked out to call attention to the
impending LTC crisis. This year Steve continues his public
outreach with the Save Medicaid LTC campaign. He sounds
the warning, a la Paul Revere, of the pending meltdown of
government -funded long-term care.
Not an insurance agent, Stephen Moses is a scholar and
consumer advocate who regularly and enthusiastically
recommends LTC insurance and reverse mortgages as the most
viable means for most Americans to pay for their future
long-term care needs. As we all know, living a long life
can be hazardous to our (and our clients') health and
wealth. Advance preparation is critical to retirement
security.
